Let’s Talk About Fake News
May 24, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Whether it’s celebrity click-bait, your crazy uncle on Facebook, or a news article you disagree with, everyone’s raising the alarm about fake news. Join professional journalists as we transform the MonDak into a friendly, neighborhood pub atmosphere to discuss how we got here, and what happens when we can’t agree on the facts. Leading the discussion will be: Darrell Ehrlick, editor of the Billings Gazette; Ed Kemmick, publisher of Last Best News; and Jackie Yamanaka, news director for Yellowstone Public Radio. Drinks and refreshments provided. So gather around a table and join us to ask questions, share your thoughts, or just listen and enjoy a pint! FREE to the public! Thursday, May 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the MonDak.
Let’s Talk About Fake News is part of Hometown Humanities Sidney and part of Humanities Montana’s focus “Democracy and the Informed Citizen,” administered by the Federation of State Humanities Councils. The initiative seeks to deepen the public’s knowledge and appreciation of the vital connections between democracy, the humanities, journalism, and an informed citizenry. Sponsored by Humanities Montana, an independent, non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
