Walter Piehl: Retrospective, 1962—2018
June 2 - August 14Free
Walter Piehl: Retrospective, 1962-2018 showcases the scope of Walter Piehl’s career to date and gives audiences the opportunity to visually experience the evolution of his style. Walter is an aficionado of history and art with a lifelong passion for Western Americana. This stems from his upbringing in a ranching family that rode horses, raised stock, and participated in rodeos. This exhibit is organized to highlight his many suites-the hallmark of his work. The majority of the artwork comes from Walter’s personal collection (many will become part of the Minot State University Permanent Collection). These are pieces the artist retained as pivotal moments and favorites. Representation of some suites may seem limited, but don’t be misled. Walter has produced dozens of paintings in most categories but his loyal followers and patrons have supported him well. On display June 2 to August 14, part of the North Dakota Art Gallery Directors Association traveling exhibitions.
