“Eye of the Camera” Clint Whitmer Photography

May 1 @ 10:00 am - June 29 @ 4:00 pm

What’s the secret to taking good photographs?

Ask Clint Whitmer and he’ll tell you that to carry a camera at all times is a large part of the answer.

“Most photographs are available to any photographer for the taking,” Whitmer explains. “If you take photographs, sooner or later you will get good ones.”

In photography, practice makes perfect. And Whitmer should know. The Wolf Point photographer has capturing positive images of life and landscape on film for several years.

The “Eye of the Camera” exhibit demonstrates that Whitmer practices what he says- many of his images are moments that would have “escaped” had Whitmer not had his camera.

Clint Whitmer was born August 2, 1944 in Glendive Montana. He graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1962 before attending the University of Montana, Missoula. He graduated with a Geology degree in 1976 before attending MSU Bozeman and receiving a MSSE in 2014. Clint’s first camera was an Olympus Pen f bought in Chu Lai, Vietnam PX 1968. His first photographs were taking during his US Army stint as a Combat Medic in Vietnam from 1968-1969. He has exhibited in the Sultanate of Oman, MSU Northern, Wolf Point, the MonDak Heritage Center, and James Memorial Art Center, in Minot, ND and in Grand Forks, ND. His “Dout Camels” won a Best of Show in Washington State; his photos may be seen in many area establishments and has been published in local newspapers and the Water Well Journal. Clint currently resides at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive, MT.
